PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has shifted 17 kiosks from the Church Square to the newly-developed area near Don Bosco High School. CCP also said that the trade and timings would strictly be monitored.
“We had been receiving many complaints from the people as well as the priest of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church that these kiosks had been violating timings and littering the place. After that the CCP Commissioner moved a proposal to shift them,” Panjim Mayor Vithal Chopdekar said.
He added, “We will be strictly monitoring the type of trade, their timings and check for any violation. We have been getting complaints that these kiosks used to operate until late night and then the place would be littered.”
Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza had directed CCP to remove handcarts operating across the city without permission after which the corporation had seized four handcarts.
