Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has dismissed reports claiming that an Iranian crude cargo was diverted from Vadinar in India to China due to payment issues. He called such reports and social media rumours factually incorrect.The minister stated that despite disruptions in West Asia, Indian refiners have secured adequate crude oil supplies, including imports from Iran, without facing any payment-related hurdles. He emphasized that India continues to maintain stable energy sourcing.Puri also explained that Bills of Lading often show tentative destinations, and shipments may change routes mid-voyage due to operational or commercial factors. He highlighted that India imports crude oil from more than 40 countries, allowing flexibility in sourcing based on market conditions.Addressing claims about LPG shipments, he clarified that the vessel Sea Bird, carrying around 44,000 metric tonnes of Iranian LPG, arrived at Mangalore on April 2 and is currently discharging its cargo, countering rumours of disruption.
