Water Pipeline Damaged During Underground Cabling Work in Navelim; NGO Demands FIR Against Contractor

Navelim, Goa: A major water pipeline was reportedly damaged once again during underground electrical cabling work carried out by Nanu Electricals in Navelim, raising concerns over repeated negligence and wastage of water.

The incident occurred behind the Our Lady of Rosary Church, along the road leading to Aquem-Baixo. The issue was highlighted by the Navelim Civic and Consumer Forum, which brought attention to the damage and its impact on local water supply.

Reacting strongly to the incident, the NGO has demanded that the Department of Drinking Water (DDW) register an FIR against the contractor, citing negligence and the unnecessary loss of precious water at a time when the state is facing shortages.

The NGO has also escalated the matter to V.J. Bhende, Chief Engineer of the DDW, urging immediate action to prevent further such incidents and ensure accountability.
