PANJIM: The Government had notified a separate Panchayat of Harvalem from 25 February 2013 in a notification issued on March 7.
The government had earlier excluded Harvalem local area from the Sanquelim Municipal Council to form the Panchayat.
The government also appointed, the Block Development Officer Bicholim Block, as the Administrator of the newly formed Panchayat Harvalem.
“The Block Development Officer, Bicholim shall hold the charge of Administrator to Village Panchayat Harvalem in addition to his own duties. Pending elections, the Government considers it expedient to make arrangement for the administration of the said Panchayat of Harvalem,” the government notification issued Thursday reads.
