MARGAO, DEC 4
The Green Goa Foundation has filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking directions to the Margao Municipal Council not to allow erection of stalls on the footpaths at the old market during the Church feast.
In his petition, the petitioner Raison Almeida prayed that the Margao Civic body be issued directions to transfer the stalls erected on the footpaths and public streets to the open space and grounds where fairs and exhibitions are normally held.
The petitioner stated that the footpaths and the roads ought not to be used for setting up stalls for the fair since the same cause great hardships to the public.
