PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has issued a notice to the State government in connection with a petition challenging the amendment to the Goa Agricultural Tenancy Act.
The court is hearing a petition filed by Ramkrishna Dessai pleading that the tenancy cases be kept with the civil courts and not reverted to Mamlatdars, which is as per the fresh amendment to the Act. When the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, the bench issued a notice to the government for reply and adjourned the matter for further hearing after the Diwali vacation.
