PANJIM: There is good future for cable television channels, according to panelists who participated in a discussion held to celebrate the 7th anniversary of HCN channel.
The panellists included Kedar Dhume of Advertising Associates, Waman Prabhu a senior television journalist and Pramod Acharya, Editor of Prudent Media. They however felt that this could happen provided the standards were improved.
The pannelists pointed out that there was a problem with revenue for the cable news, even though print did not have such a problem but expressed confidence that things would improve.
The panellists also discussed the progress of cable television in the State from its inception to the present day and spoke on the challenges ahead for the industry.
Other issues related to news and its reporting in the State as well as the country were discussed as also the issues and challenges facing journalists and video journalists.
HCN was congratulated for having completed seven years of news reporting and programming.
