VASCO: In a heart wrenching incident a woman from Chicalim on Saturday allegedly killed her 14-month-old daughter at her residence and attempted to commit suicide early Saturday morning.

The woman has been identified as 38-year-old Nimisha Gone.
Gone’s minor daughter’s death came to light when the<the Agasaim Police contacted their counterparts at Vasco about the attempted suicide incident.
Nimisha along with her husband Nilesh Gone and the daughter had returned from Germany to Bengaluru, from where she along with her daughter arrived in Goa a fortnight ago and was living with her father at Chicalim.
According to the Vasco Police, the tragedy occurred at around 5:30 am when the woman allegedly strangulated her daughter to death. She then used a rope to climb down from the balcony of her house without the notice of her father. She is suspected to have cut the vein of her hand, kept her cell phone in the garden and approached her neighbour asking for his vehicle telling him that she wanted to buy milk.
The neighbour, who was on a morning walk, gave her his car and even inquired about her daughter.
When asked whether he could help her, the woman told him that her father was at home and proceeded towards Cortalim with his car. She came to the Zuari Bridge, parked the vehicle and after walking few metres, jumped into the river.
However, the woman then started swimming in the river and noticing her, the DBL workers rushed and rescued her. They then handed her over to the Agasaim Police.
She has been admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim for treatment.
Later, the Vasco Police rushed to her residence and conducted the panchanama and her daughter’s body was sent to the hospital for post mortem examination. The police is learnt to have contacted her husband who is returning from Germany.
The Vasco Police have registered a case against Nimisha Gone under Section 302 of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and are conducting further investigations under the supervision of Vasco PI Kapil Nayak.
