CANACONA: Taking advantage of a long weekend as Saturday and Monday being public holidays, holidaymakers from all over South India are seen making a beeline to the world famous beach of Palolem throwing the traffic off gear.
The outstation tourists from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh started making beeline with their four wheelers and where seen struggling to find parking spaces on the approach road of Palolem.
Finding the situation tough, the traffic personnel stationed at Palolem-Agonda junction near Charrasta directed all incoming traffic wanting to proceed to Palolem to park their vehicles on the Charrasta-Agonda road creating chaos and traffic blocks all Saturday evening.
The hoteliers looked happy as after a lull season during the monsoon there is buoyancy in business and temporary thatched rooms not built till now all permanent rooms got booked for entire weekend.
A local businessman wanting said there are thousands of tourists coming to the Palolem beach since Saturday morning, the beach is filled with domestic as well as foreign tourists and with all the hotels booked till Monday it’s good for both restaurants and hotel owners.
