PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has ordered not to release the Rs 1.10 crore security deposit given by the Sunburn EDM organisers until further orders.
On January 6, the High Court directed the Chief Secretary to report on the officials who were involved in the process of granting permissions to Sunburn Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival held at Vagator from December 28 to 30, 2022. The Chief Secretary was also mandated to file a final report in the matter within a fortnight after he submitted a preliminary report earlier.

The affidavit sworn by the CS also mentions how the organisers got permission for the event from the SDPO and the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) within 24 hours. The No Objection Certificate (NOC) was sought on December 27 and granted on December 28. He said that this is a gross violation of the rules.
The Court has granted the organisers time till April 25 to file their affidavit in the matter.
Earlier, the affidavit of the Chief Secretary (CS) Puneet Kumar Goel had blown the lid off the illegalities and exposed the discrepancies committed while granting permissions to Sunburn Electronic Dance Music (EDM) in 2022.
