High Court Restores Regularization of Margao Municipal Workers in Big Win for Savio Coutinho

In a major victory for Margao Congress leader Savio Coutinho and Margao Municipal Council (MMC) workers, the Hon’ble High Court has upheld the regularization of workers whose services were initially confirmed on March 2, 2020, but later put on hold through an order dated June 10, 2020.

The court’s decision effectively reinstates the regularization of the MMC workers, bringing much-needed relief to several employees who had been caught in legal uncertainty for over four years.

Advocate Shivraj Gaonkar represented the MMC workers in the case. Savio Coutinho, who has been consistently advocating for the rights of municipal workers, welcomed the judgment as a “big victory for justice and workers’ dignity.”

“This is a vindication of the struggle we’ve led to protect the livelihood and rights of these employees,” Coutinho said, urging the MMC to now implement the High Court order without delay.
