Mapusa: Twenty-seven-year-old A. Dutta, from Himachal Pradesh drowned at Candolim beach on Sunday. The police booked a case of unnatural death.
Dutta had come to Goa with his friends on a vacation and was staying in a hotel at Candolim. Early on Sunday, when he along with his friends plunged into the waters, a huge wave sucked him in. Dutta was subsequently pulled in deeper. His friends frantically tried to search for him but failed. They later contacted the police.
Even the police rescue team failed to zero in on him. However, later around 8 am, the body was washed ashore. Police conducted a panchanama & sent the body to GMC for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, on 14 August 2017, a chill visit to the Japanese Garden beach in Headland Sada on Monday turned out to be a horror episode for a group of five students from BITS Pilani campus, Sancoale, when their classmate 21-year-old fourth year student of electronics and instrumentation department drowned.
Nihit Jain, who had accompanied Harshit, said, “The institute was closed for Janmashtami on Monday and we decided to visit Japanese Garden beach.”
