VASCO: Residents of Vasco under the banner of Helpful Organisation for Like Minded Indians (HOLI) on Thursday came out in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) by explaining the positive side of the new law.
Helpful Organisation for Like Minded Indians said the Citizenship Amendment Act will benefit the Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Parsi and Sikh communities – the minorities persecuted on the basis of their religion in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
A group of nearly 20 locals gathered at the Vasco Railway Station to support Citizenship Amendment Act.
The members said the Citizenship Amendment Act will help Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Parsi and Christians who are subjected to hostility in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. These communities residing in India before December 31, 2014 will be given Indian citizenship.
They also opined that few people are trying to mislead people on CAA, which is actually not going to affect any particular community in India adversely. People need to understand CAA correctly before opposing it without understanding.
Kamlakant Chaturvedi, Dr Kamlesh Mishra, J K Singh, Suman Sharma, Ajay K Lamba, Adv Birendra Singh, Sanjay Mhalsekar, Abba Dicholkar, B M Yadav, Nitin Phaldessai and others were present.
