The social networking bug has now hit a Cavelossim-based beach resort after miscreants opened an account in the Facebook and dished out defamatory information against the resort.
Less than a week after the Colva police registered a case under the Information Technology Act against miscreants for opening an account in the name of PWD Minister Churchill Alemao, the Colva police has now registered another case against unknown persons under the same Act for impersonating the resort on the face book.
Margao Sub-Divisional police officer, Umesh Gaonkar informed that the Prestige Holiday Resorts, Cavelossim had lodged a complaint stating that its account has been hacked by miscreants and opened a new account containing defamatory information about the hotel.
DySP Gaonkar further said that the miscreants have uploaded pornographic pictures on the account in order to defame the hotel.
“The Colva police have registered a case against unknown persons under the Information Technology Act. We are investigating into the case,” he added.
