OLD GOA: An illegal house constructed at Kumbarvaddy-Merces was demolished by the PWD demolition squad in the presence of the Joint Mamlatdar Esha Sawant and EOVP Anil Dhumaskar, on Thursday. The demolition exercise was undertaken after an order to this effect was passed by the Deputy Collector on April 28 this year, based on a complaint by Gurudas Pilarnekar way back in 2010. According to information available, the illegal house was constructed by a resident of Carmibhat-Merces. Two rooms of the house were also given out on rent. The demolition exercise started at 10 am and was completed by 2 pm. Old Goa ASI Shiva Naik was present along with the police force, to prevent any untoward incident. Merces Panchayat Secretary Bheldas Karapurkar was also present.
