PANJIM: The implementation of the Supreme Court directive on installation of high security registration plates on vehicles would begin in Goa from the forthcoming financial year in April, Director of Transport Arun Desai said on Friday.
Speaking to media persons, Desai said that the technical evaluation committee had short-listed both the companies that had bid for the tender. The financial evaluation committee will meet next week to select the successful bidder.
“By the end of this month, the company would be finalized,” the director said, adding that three months time would be given to the company to set up logistics for implementation of the project.
The High Court in September 2013 had slammed the Goa government for not implementing the installation of HSRP and ignoring the Supreme Court order. Accordingly, the transport department on December 6, 2013, had begun the process of re-tendering the HSRP for the fourth time. The bids were opened in mid-February. However, the same was cancelled as none of the bidders qualified for pre-qualification bid requirement. Hence, fresh tenders were floated in May 2014.
