PORVORIM: Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar on Friday said the State government will issue a tender for the cable car project from Reis Magos to Miramar across the Mandovi River by February 15, adding that three companies, including one from Korea, have shown interest in the project.
He was speaking to reporters along the sidelines of a function to commence hotmixing of roads in PDA colony at Porvorim.
“The state government has decided to issue a tender for the cable car project from Reis Magos to Miramar across the river Mandovi by February 15. Three companies, including one from Korea, have shown interest in the project, which will be completed within six to eight months,” said Parulekar.
The minister further mentioned that the state government will launch hot air balloon and amphibious tourism facilities to woo tourists.
Commenting on the death of fashion designer, Isha Mantry, during a mega music festival, Paruleker clarified that the tourism department is merely the licensing authority.
“The entire responsibility rests with the event management company. The tourism department has asked the event company to submit CCTV footage of the event, while the police department and sales tax/excise authorities have been directed to submit their reports of both EDM festivals within the next 15 days. The State government will act only after receiving reports on these events,” Parulekar said.
