A huge Mango tree collapsed on a house in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at Bodiem, Thivim Mapusa. The incident occurred at around 3.15 am. A 28-year-old resident identified as Yashoda Rathod was seriously injured in the incident. Fire and Rescue department reached the spot on time and immediately cleared the debris.
Rathod, the caretaker of the house was sleeping peacefully when the tree collapsed on top of the house disrupting her peace. Huge branches of the tree including the house’s roof tiles fell on top of her. Yashoda’s entire left side of the body sustained severe injuries.

The property belonged to a non-Goan, and the caretakers took care of the property. The owner Balwant Singh is from Chandigarh who had bought the property. The tree also belonged to the owner.
During the incident, the other caretakers were at Assagao. By the time they got the news about the incident, they arrived around 4 am. They immediately took Yashoda to a nearby medical centre for first aid. Then they quickly called the fire and rescue department. Upon receiving the call, the FES team reached the spot and within no time rescued the people from the other rooms.
