PONDA: The excise officials on Wednesday seized illegal liquor worth over Rs 5 lakh at the Mollem border and attached the tempo involved in transporting the same.
The officials seized 305 cases of illegal liquor worth Rs 5,51,280 which were being transported from Goa to Karnataka at around 1.45 am.

The said liquor was concealed in plastic scrap bags.
When the officials demanded the invoice of the plastic scrap bags, the driver, taking advantage of the darkness, fled towards the forest area.
The excise staff namely Jitendra Adpaikar, Sunil P Naik, Mahadev Gaonkar, Dashrath Gawas, Ashish Gaonkar and Deepak Prabhu Dessai seized the liquor under the supervision of the Excise Inspector Rohit Dessai.
