Rainfall activity is expected to ease across much of north India from Tuesday, September 29, even as parts of southern India and the Northeast remain under the influence of active weather systems, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In its latest forecast, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in parts of southern India, while showers are likely to continue over the Northeast and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Uttarakhand to see improvement
Uttarakhand, which has experienced rainfall and snowfall in higher elevations in recent days, is expected to see an improvement in weather conditions. The IMD has not issued a heavy rainfall warning for the state for Tuesday.
Light to moderate rain is likely at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.
Himachal Pradesh may receive isolated rainfall, while largely dry conditions are expected over Delhi, Haryana and Punjab.
Monsoon withdrawal progresses
The southwest monsoon’s withdrawal has advanced up to Chandigarh. The IMD expects dry weather conditions across Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab from September 29 as the monsoon continues to retreat from parts of northwestern India.
Meanwhile, active weather systems over southern and northeastern parts of the country are expected to keep rainfall activity going in those regions.
