Implement RP sans diluting essence, says Dr Rebello

Goa’s renowned social activist Dr Oscar Rebello has said that State Government should implement the new Regional Plan (RP) without diluting the essence of it.
“The draft RP was fantastic effort by the committee. Now it’s for the State government to ensure that the people don’t violate the restrictions put in the plan,” Rebello told Herald today.
The government has already made public RP for Pernem and Canacona talukas while plans for the rest of the talukas are in the offing.
“The new RP is a result of brilliant efforts and I hope that the State government speedily implements it in other talukas too without much delay,” the leader said.
He said that the RP has focus on eco-sensitive zones and has suggested the right development for the State.” RP should be implemented as soon as possible in all the talukas so that it will eliminate uncertainty surrounding land use pattern,” Rebello added.
He also said that the State Government should go by the national highway alignment as suggested in RP by scrapping the current alignment, which is against the plan.
