PANJIM: The cases of novel coronavirus (nCoV) on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess, docked at Yokohama in Japan, have seen a rise with nearly 44 new cases detected in the past 24 hours. From 174 persons tested positive for the virus till February 12, the numbers jumped to 218 as of February 13.

However, the two crew members from India who had been found infected with nCoV are showing signs of improvement. “As of February 13, 2020 altogether 218 people have tested positive for the virus, including two Indian crew members. All 218 have been taken to hospitals for adequate treatment including further quarantine, in accordance with the Japanese health protocol,” an Embassy official stated.
The Embassy further said that two Indian crew members, hospitalised for nCoV, are stable and their condition is improving. “The Embassy has established contact with the doctor treating the two Indians. They will be put to another round of tests in the next few days and further treatment will be carried out based on results,” it said.
Of the 3,711 persons on board the quarantined cruise ship, 2,666 are guests and 1,045 are crew members.
