PANJIM: A New Delhi firm has approached the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) seeking permission to introduce a boat cruise facility and construct a floating jetty in River Mandovi. The project, which includes a five-star and four-star resort near Reis Magos, is proposed in an area marked as settlement zone in the Regional Plan 2021.
As per the proposal submitted before IPB, which is slated to meet on June 20 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Spark Healthline Private Limited has sought in principle approval for constructing the floating jetty for water sports activity and boat cruise in the Mandovi Bay area near Dolphin Bay Resort at Reis Magos and facilities of five star hotel and four star hotel near Reis Magos Fort in survey No 95/1A, Reis Magos.
The project planned in a total area of 65,889 sq mts of settlement land, is estimated to cost Rs 324 crore with total employment generation of over 3000.
Interestingly, the firm already owns 1000 sq mtrs of land, which it has given to the State government for the ropeway project which will link Reis Magos to Panjim.
The construction of a floating jetty with water sports activities will include submarine underwater rides in the deep sea, yachts rides, fish angling tourism along with dolphin rides.
The project proponent has claimed that the resorts will have multi-level car parking in individual buildings of the hotels with three levels of car parking and landscaping illumination and approach road to the activities and facilities. “The project is proposed in the settlement zone as per RP 2021,” the proposal reads.
Meanwhile, at the meeting scheduled on Monday, projects worth Rs 936.91 crore will be coming up for clearance, which include a new pharmaceutical unit, an agro-tourism project, an eco-boutique resort and spa, a four-star resort and other expansion projects. These proposals are likely to generate nearly 5000 jobs.
