While
one group of Velsao villagers are against desilting and emptying of the Velsao
pond, another group of villagers are for desilting it. The group which is
against desilting has alleged that there is a “setting” of some the villagers
with the RVNL to desilt the pond and carry on the double tracking work. The other group of Velsao Fishermen and
villagers led by Aliston Pinto told media that tests suggest that the water is
polluted and that the creek has been opened by politicians and locals on many
occasions in the past. Anyone is welcome for a debate on the subject of pond
flooding issue, they said.
