PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar announced that jobs in Information Technology (IT) will be available in the State in the next three years, provided the current speed of IT projects in the Electronic City at Tuem and IT Habitat in Chimbel continues.
“If we continue at the same pace of work, in next two to three years, we will start providing employment opportunities in IT sector in Goa and it will bring back all those talented Goans who have settled in other States working in IT,” Parsekar said in his Independence Day address in Panjim.
Speaking about the progress of the Tuem and Chimbel projects, Parsekar said, “In Chimbel, we have approved the proposal for construction of road transportation, power and water supply. At Tuem, the construction of a road leading to the proposed site has begun. Consultants for both the projects have been appointed.”
Around 300 diploma holders in the IT sector pass out each year, as also another 300 to 350 BSc, BCA, MSc and MCA students from the IT field graduate each year. Added to this, are the approximately 450 ITI students seeking job opportunities in the State.
“In a year around 300 to 400 students from Goa go to other cities such as Pune and Bangalore in search of jobs in the IT industry,” the CM said.
