Ivorian national held with drugs worth Rs 4 lakh

MAPUSA: Calangute police arrested one Jerry Alex (37), an Ivoirian national, with drugs suspected to be that of LSD and MDMA worth Rs 4 lakh.

MAPUSA: Calangute police arrested one Jerry Alex (37), an Ivoirian national, with drugs suspected to be that of LSD and MDMA worth Rs 4 lakh.
PI Jivba Dalvi said that he received information that a foreign national would be coming to Candolim to deliver a consignment of drugs consisting of LSD and MDMA before Christmas and accordingly police had kept a strict vigil in Candolim area.
On Wednesday midnight, police received confirmation that the foreigner has come down to Candolim. Immediately, police teams were deployed at different points on Candolim road, who spotted the suspect at Anna Vado in Candolim. On seeing the police, suspect took to his heels but was arrested after a short chase.
On searching the accused, police found LSD papers worth Rs 2,40,000 and MDMA worth Rs 1,50,000 on his person. On interrogation, the accused revealed that he had come down to Goa to supply drugs to some prospective customers. 
Police also seized a mobile phone and an Activa scooter from the accused. He is booked under Section 22(c) of NDPS Act. 
Besides PI Dalvi, the raiding team consisted of PSI Mahesh Naik, PSI Sitaram Malik, PC Dinesh Morajkar, Govind Shirodkar, Vallabh Pedne and Vinod Kerkar. PSI Mahesh Naik is investigating the case.
