JIH Goa Condemns Remarks on St. Francis Xavier, Urges Action and Communal Harmony

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Goa, has strongly condemned the alleged derogatory remarks made against Saint Francis Xavier, stating that freedom of expression must not be misused to incite communal tension.

In a press release issued on April 20, the organisation said such statements hurt the sentiments of various communities and undermine the social harmony that Goa has long been known for.

State President Asif Hussain emphasised that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it should not be exercised in a manner that insults religious figures or beliefs.

JIH Goa has urged authorities to take prompt and strict action in accordance with the law. At the same time, the organisation appealed to the public to remain calm and work towards maintaining peace and unity across the state.
