MARGAO: The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao, has directed the Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, to appoint a panel of doctors to examine accused Alex Pereira admitted in Hospicio and submit a report to the court by Friday noon.
The order was passed by the JMFC following a petition by Colva police seeking permission to appoint a panel of doctors to examine the accused. Alex whose petition was dismissed by Goa bench of the High Court on September 13 was arrested by Colva police on September 13. While he was being remanded to seven days police custody, he was admitted to Hospicio, Margao. Pereira is accused of sending lewd, vulgar, defamatory, derogatory, threatening and blackmailing SMS, emails, and abusive phone calls to Laxmi Gonsalves from March 17 after she had addressed a public meeting opposing a huge multi-housing project at Utorda.
