MARGAO: As the controversy still shrouds the pathetic condition of Kala Academy, yet another incident marred proceedings on Sunday during a tiatr show, when the curtain depicting a road scene got stuck mid-performance.
However, with no other option left, the tiatr director was forced to end the show with the half-stuck road scene curtain, instead of the intended scene inside the house.
The incident occurred during the tiatr show titled ‘Sonvsar-Sorg-Ifern’, written and directed by Constantine Crasto, which was in progress at 3:30 pm. The director had to personally convince the tiatr lovers to accept the premature ending due to the stuck curtain.
However, it was later discovered that the curtain got stuck due to technical reasons, and the personnel in charge at the venue were clueless about how to resolve the issue promptly.
It is pertinent to note that several artists across Goa, including tiatrists, have raised their voices against the pathetic conditions of the Kala Academy structure post-renovations. Artists are continuously demanding rectification of faults related to sound, lights, and other technical issues that have significantly impacted performances at the Kala Academy.
Speaking to O Heraldo about the incident reported on Sunday at Kala Academy, Constantine Crasto, Director of the tiatr ‘Sonvsar-Sorg-Ifern’, explained that the show was nearing its conclusion when suddenly the curtain depicting the road scene got stuck.
“Actually, the ending of the tiatr was supposed to focus on the house scene, where it was crucial for the curtain depicting the road scene to rise. However, it got stuck halfway, causing confusion about what to do next,” he stated.
He informed that the staff of Kala Academy present at the venue cited the reason for the technical fault as being due to lower voltage power supply.
“But we had no option but to continue the tiatr show. It wasn’t fair to end the show without the last and important scene. So, after making an announcement and seeking cooperation from the tiatr lovers, we ended the show with the road scene half-stuck,” said Crasto.
