The investiga tion into the killing of Tanvi Ghadi at Kazur within the jurisdiction of Caurem-Pir la in Quepem taluka has taken a new turn, with po lice now focusing on the origin of the firearm used in the crime and whether the accused possessed a valid licence. The accused, Sweth Gaude, was produced before the court, which granted four days of police remand, said Quepem PI Prashal Dessai. He added that the firearm has been seized and efforts are underway to determine whether it was legally owned. According to police sources, the offence has been registered under Sec tion 103(1) of the Bhara tiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3 and 5 read with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, which pertain to the illegal possession and use of fire arms.
The complaint was lodged by Moulali Nadaf, a resident of Bicholim. In his statement, he said the inci dent occurred on April 12, 2026, at around 2:45 pm at Chichepanwada, Kazur, within the jurisdiction of Caurem-Pirla. As per the complaint, the accused, identified as Sweth Gaude, a resident of Antershe-Pale, allegedly acted in coordination with another accused, Shyam Gaonkar of Kazur, Cau rem-Pirla. It is alleged that Gaude was aware that the fire arm, illegally possessed by Gaonkar, was loaded and capable of causing death. Despite this, he alleg edly fired a gunshot at Tanvi. The bullet report edly struck the left side of her neck, causing se vere and ultimately fatal injuries. She was immediately in jured and later succumbed to those injuries. PI Dessai is investigating the case, while the author ities are continuing their efforts to establish the exact sequence of events, including the role of each accused and the source of the firearm.
