PANJIM: The KTC Drivers and Allied Employees Association affiliated to AITUC has served a strike notice to the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) to stage protests from September 6, against the government for not settling their long pending demands including arrears as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission and signing of wage settlement.
Addressing a press conference at its office on Friday, AITUC general secretary Christopher Fonseca demanded 34 months arrears arising out of implementation of the Pay Commission and signing of wage settlement dated March 11, 2024 before the office of the Labour Commissioner.

Fonseca said that the KTCL management had also agreed that workmen, who had either expired, superannuated, terminally-ill or disabled after January 1, 2016 till October 31, 2018 shall be eligible to all arrears payable, as and when decided on approval given by the State government.
He also demanded to restore employees’ provident fund (EPF) contribution to 12 per cent for KTCL workers as provident fund contribution was cut by the government to 10 per cent in 2009.
The AITUC leader further demanded that the KTCL management stop outsourcing inter-State routes and said that government had outsourced Goa-Shirdi and Goa-Mumbai, both inter-State routes and which were profit-making routes.
Fonseca opposed the `Majhi Bus Scheme’ and called upon the government and the KTCL management to scrap the scheme or to keep it in abeyance since it was not in the interest of the Corporation.
