KTC services suspended for two hours

MARGAO: Margao’s Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) was tense as all buses to the capital city were cancelled for nearly two hours.

As parents under the banner of Forum for Rights of Children to Education (FORCE) blocked major roads around the state, the Margao terminal was ordered not to release buses until roads were cleared.
One KTC official said the terminal had received orders from the police asking them not to allow any buses leaving the bus stand as several of the corporations buses were stoned in Agassaim.
He said that at least four buses were stoned following which operations had to be halted temporarily and were waiting for the situation to clear up.
This however didn’t stop many commuters who mostly belonged to the working community from complaining of KTC’s inadequate services. Buses posted in front of the ticket counters were sent back to the main depot and were returned once roads along the route were cleared.
Parents stopped vehicles along and near the Nuvem bypass like in many other parts of the state bring traffic to a standstill. The long queues were cleared in a couple of hours and restoring traffic back to normalcy.
