PANJIM: The Goa Trade Unions Confederation has hit out at the Draft Investment and Industrial Policy of the government terming it as a pro-capitalist and a one-sided policy document that does not take into account the wishes of the labour class.
In a statement, Ajeetsingh Rane has demanded that the policy should include their demands such as the compulsory trade unionism, careful utilization of the state’s scarce land resources and jobs for locals.
“No weightage is given to the significance of human investment of labour in the proposed investment policy… there will be influx of over two lakh uneducated, unskilled migrant workers to invade the unemployment market and economy of Goa,” Rane said.
“Subsidies must be given only to those industries, that will be providing 80% jobs and self employment opportunities to Goans,” Rane added. He also said that the scarce land should be utilized in a scientific and economic way.
Goa’s land be protected and reserved for use by Goans, on priority,” he added.
