Licence of city pharmacy attached to hospital suspended for 10 days

PANJIM: A pharmacy attached to a private hospital in Panjim
had its license suspended for 10 days after the Directorate of Food and Drugs
Administration detected various violations including selling medicines without
prescriptions.

FDA suspended the Drug Retail Sale Licences of UGH
Vintage Medical Store Pvt Ltd, Chemist and Druggist at Caculo Enclave, St Inez
for violations such as dispensing drugs without the supervision of the registered
pharmacist, non-maintenance of purchase and sales records, selling drugs
without prescription, which are in violation of the provisions of the Drugs and
Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules. The license has been suspended from August 22 to 31, 2016.

According to an official, the medical store was earlier warned
and also given an opportunity to improve its functioning, but they failed to
demonstrate any significant visible improvement.
