Lifeguards demand absorption into govt dept

MAPUSA: Lifeguards Union on Saturday met Ports Minister Michael Lobo and requested him to resolve their issue.
Since past two and half months, lifeguards are protesting for their demand.
The union members expressed their concern to Lobo, who assured them to have a word with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on this issue.
“We met Ports Minister Michael Lobo and briefed him about our demands. We had previously met him during wherein he had assured to hold joint meeting with the chief minister. However, due to technical issues it was not possible,” Swati Kerkar said.
We have now requested him to take initiative to solve our issues and he has now assured us to have a word with the chief minister on this issue. Our demand is government should employ the lifeguards under Goa Tourism Department Cooperation other than employing under any other company,” Swati Kerkar said.
