PANJIM: Former minister Michael Lobo on Friday air dashed to Delhi and met All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal and is learnt to have discussed post-poll political strategies in the State.

Lobo’s day-long visit assumes importance following reports that he had met prominent BJP leaders and explored possibilities of government formation.
Lobo and his wife, Parra Sarpanch Delilah, joined Congress ahead of the Assembly elections and were given tickets to contest the elections. After meeting Venugopal, Lobo tweeted, “Had fruitful interaction about post-political scenario and government formation with @INCIndia AICC General Secretary (Organisation) @kcvenugopalmp ji, AICC Goa incharge. Told him that people of Goa believe in @INCGoa and have voted us to form people-centric government.”
Lobo also said that he gave first-hand information to Venugopal about the elections and what will be the party’s strategy after the results are declared.
He said that Venugopal has assured him that the High Command will give Goa all the required support and work closely with the new Congress-led government in the State.
Lobo said that he has invited Venugopal to visit Goa to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Congress-GFP alliance government.
“AICC leader Rahul Gandhi is also likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony,” he added.
Later in the evening, GPCC President Girish Chodankar also rushed to Delhi to explore the possibilities of government formation in the State.
With Assembly election results projecting a fractured mandate, Congress is working out possible post-poll tie-ups with other parties and independents to form the government.
Chodankar is expected to meet AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, former union minister P C Chidambaram and AICC Goa in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao.
