Lobo, Ferreira meet CM; protest against decision of sidelining opposition MLAs during official functions

Protest against the government’s decision to sideline opposition MLAs during official functions.

PANJIM: Opposition Leader Michael Lobo and MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and protested against the government’s decision to sideline opposition MLAs during official functions.

Lobo said that they brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that whenever official functions are organised, the government should invite elected representatives irrespective of their party affiliations as per the protocol.

“We told the Chief Minister that the government should follow protocol. It may be different for political party programmes,” he said adding that the Chief Minister has assured them that he would convey it to his Cabinet colleagues and put it to the heads of departments.

Reacting to the ED summoning Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Adv Alvares alleged that the BJP-led central government was adopting ‘vindictive politics’ and demanded that the Government of India should stop this and rather focus on pressing issues affecting the common man.
