Concerned local residents and taxi drivers, who are key stakeholders in Goa’s tourism industry, have questioned the absence of basic toilet facilities at the historic Cabo de Rama Fort in South Goa.
They pointed out that the popular heritage site attracts a large number of international and domestic tourists, but continues to lack washrooms, leaving visitors distressed over what they described as a pitiable state of affairs. Women tourists, in particular, are said to be the most affected by the lack of basic amenities.
Stakeholders said the absence of toilets not only causes inconvenience to visitors but also reflects poorly on Goa’s tourism infrastructure at a globally known historical monument. Taxi drivers, who regularly bring tourists to the fort, said they often face complaints from visitors due to the lack of facilities.
With concerns growing, locals and tourism stakeholders have demanded that the tourism department urgently construct proper washrooms and toilets at Cabo de Rama Fort to ensure visitor comfort and uphold the state’s image as a tourist-friendly destination.
