In the Hankhane area, locals have raised serious concerns about the passing of heavy vehicles through the service road and bridge of the Tillari canal, fearing that it could threaten the structural integrity of the canal and potentially lead to its collapse. In addition to the safety risks, residents have also pointed out the significant dust pollution caused by these vehicles.
During a meeting with the Water Resources Department (WRD), Congress supporters, including Pedne Congress President Krishna Naik, Uday Mahale, Gopal Naik, and Dharma Naik, held Assistant Engineer Yatin Shirodkar of the Colvale head office accountable for the inefficiency of water supply from the Tillari canal. The locals demanded swift action to prevent further damage to the canal and improve the water supply.
Engineer Yatin Shirodkar, in response to the concerns raised, assured the gathering that he would work on finding a solution at the earliest to address both the safety and pollution issues surrounding the Tillari canal.
