Sanquelim MLA Pramod Sawant Thursday raised the issue of LPG agencies asking consumers to book their LPG re-fills via SMS.
Sawant drew the attention of the House pamphlets being distributed by LPG dealers enlisting SMS numbers for the purpose of booking refills.
He said, “People in rural areas are not mobile savvy, in many case they don’t possess cell phones,” he said pointing out that this issue is creating fear and anxiety in the minds of LPG consumers particularly in villages.
The Minister for Civil Supplies, Dayanand Mandrekar informed the House that a meeting is being convened between the civil supplies ministry, LPG companies and central government officials on this issue. The meeting is scheduled next Saturday.
