PONDA: The Goa government has purchased two brand new Toyota Fortuners and 10 Toyota Innovas, which will be used by the Chief Minister and other cabinet ministers.
All the vehicles, bought from a car showroom at Verna, are registered at the Mapusa RTO. The purchase, which exceeds Rs 2 crore, hints at a possible change in the Cabinet in the near future, most likely before or around the time of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in the State to inaugurate the Mopa International Airport this week.
Political observers say that a shuffle in ministerial posts between some of the newly- defected Congress MLAs and current ministers, is highly likely.
All four MLAs from Ponda taluka currently hold ministerial posts in the State government. A senior BJP leader, on the condition of anonymity said that at least one of the Ponda MLAs in the cabinet will be replaced. Since the government’s purchase includes two units of the Fortuner, a premium SUV, the possibility of a new Deputy Chief Minister post in the new Cabinet is also emerging.
