Madkai locals gather at Mardol police station, demand action against molester PE teacher

Corner PI, call for thorough probe; vow to take to the streets to seek justice for victims; call for action against school management for shielding accused

PONDA: The villagers of Madkai on Sunday marched at the Mardol police station demanding immediate action against the physical education (PE) teacher for allegedly molesting a girl and also against the Madkai-based school management.

After meeting Mardol PI Mohan Guade, one of the villagers Rajesh Naik said, “We came here to inquire with the police about the status of the investigation into the molestation case registered against a teacher. We informed the cops that the school management sat over the complaint for two months. There were several meetings and parents were informed that the school management was investigating the complaints. But we were shocked to learn that there were five more complaints against the accused but the school management failed to take action.”

Naik said the police had assured them that an inquiry into the case is underway and it will be transparent.

Demanding that there should be thorough inquiry into all the complaints, Naik said villagers would be forced to take to the streets if the victims do not get justice.

“’The school management must be punished if it has done wrong. We will not remain silent till justice is done with the victims. We demanded that a thorough inquiry to find out who else is involved in the crime,” Naik said.

Sonia Naik pointed out that there are counsellors in all schools but the said Madkai school had never appointed anyone till date. “Complaints of this nature are lodged with the administration, which accords priority to its interests and tries to dodge it,” she alleged.
