CURTORIM: Villagers of Maina have approached the Curtorim Village Panchayat seeking an immediate appeal against an order of the Additional Director of Panchayats concerning a construction project in Survey No. 465/13, Maina.
In their representation to the Sarpanch, the villagers raised concerns over the order allowing the construction licence for the project and urged the Panchayat to challenge the decision through an appropriate appeal.

The villagers also pointed to an earlier dispute concerning construction in Survey No. 461/1-B in the same village. In that case, the Curtorim Village Panchayat had issued a stop-work notice, citing environmental and infrastructural concerns.
They questioned what they described as an apparent inconsistency between the two matters and called upon the Panchayat to seek legal remedy against the latest order.
The representation referred to an order issued by the Secretary (Panchayats), Government of Goa, dated September 10, 2026. According to the villagers, the order quashed and set aside the earlier judgment of the Additional Director of Panchayats, South Goa, Margao, while upholding the Curtorim Panchayat’s resolution objecting to and halting construction at Survey No. 461/1-B.
The Secretary’s order further directed that no construction activity should be undertaken at the site until issues relating to environmental remediation and infrastructural adequacy are resolved to the satisfaction of the local body.
The Maina villagers have now urged the Curtorim Panchayat to take immediate steps to appeal the order concerning Survey No. 465/13 and ensure that their concerns are addressed.
