Major bills to be passed today

PANJIM: The government will place the Goa Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, the Goa Motor Vehicles (Taxation on Passengers and Goods) (Amendment) Bill and Goa Motor Vehicles Tax (Amendment) Bill, before the House for passing on Monday. Revenue Minister Francis D’Souza is also all set to introduce the Indian Stamp (Goa Amendment) Bill in the House.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will pilot the Goa Cess on Products and Substances Causing Pollution (Green Cess) Bill, while the Revenue Minister will move the Goa Buildings (Lease, Rent and Eviction) Control (Amendment) Bill and Goa Legislative Diploma (Amendment) Bill and Goa Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill.
Minister for Transport Ramkrishna S Dhavalikar, will move Goa Motor Vehicles (Taxation on Passengers and Goods) (Amendment) Bill and Goa Motor Vehicles Tax (Amendment) Bill, while Minister for Environment Alina Saldanha will pilot the Goa Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) (Second Amendment) Bill.
Meanwhile the government will also try to pass the Service Guarantee Bill that will try and ensure that Goans can get government services as a matter of right. The bill would list all departments falling under the services as well as the kind of services offered. The public grievances department will monitor the implementation of this Act.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the action taken report on the state budget would be tabled on May 2. “We will present action taken report in assembly on May 2,” Parrikar said.
