Porvorim Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi said an offence has been registered against Bhaumik under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. He said the accused has been presently placed at IPHB Bambolim and once he recovers will be taken into custody for further interrogation.
During the course of inquiry it was revealed that the family is from Uttar Pradesh and the son used to assault his mother for money as he had a drinking habit.
PI Dalvi said that the post mortem report has confirmed the cause of death as compression of the neck. The victim’s body has been preserved at the GMC morgue.
This is the second murder of a family member this month.
