A 31-year-old man from Headland Sada, Mormugao, was feared drowned off Japanese Garden beach, after he accidentally fell in the sea on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Mormugao Police, the incident occurred when Khalil Shaikh along with his friends and relatives had gone for fishing on a rocky area at the Japanese Garden beach.
Police informed that as per the statement of the victim accomplices who were at the site when the incident occurred, Shaikh while pulling the stuck hook accidentally slipped in the sea and drowned.
The Indian Coast Guard pressed helicopter into service to conduct search operation, while jet-ski and lifeguards of Drishti Special Response Service were also conducting search operations, but the victim could not be traced till late Tuesday evening.
