PANJIM: Mohammad Aga of Porvorim who is suspected to have fallen into Mandovi River after his two-wheeler collided against a vehicle on Mandovi Bridge in the wee hours of Wednesday is still missing even as rescue operations continued for the second day on Thursday.

The rider is still untraceable, said Panjim police, who sought the help of navy divers to rescue him.
However, Mohammad’s father Nazim Aga on Thursday said that the driver and other occupants in the vehicle might have admitted his son to a hospital or has thrown him into the river. The SUV is owned by M G Azam, a corporator from Karnataka.
Nazim Aga said that on Thursday morning police showed him a body of one accident victim lying in the GMC morgue at Bambolim, but it is not of his son. He said that his son had gone for a party at St Cruz on Tuesday night and had called him prior to departing for home. He alleged that his son was knocked down by a speeding SUV and said that the police should find out from the driver the whereabouts of his son, who is missing since Tuesday night.
According to the police, Mohammad was thrown off and fell into the river after two-wheeler collided against an oncoming SUV. The accident occurred at around 2.30 am on Wednesday.
Aga on Thursday filed a missing complaint at the Panjim police station. He said that the vehicle driver Altaf is giving evasive replies to the police and alleged that vehicle owner is using his political clout to pressurise the police. He appealed to the people to inform the nearest police station if they have any information of his son’s whereabouts.
