MARGAO: Mandovi Cricket Club and Ghumteshwar Warriors romped into the semi-finals of All Goa Babu Brothers T20 cricket tournament organized by Babu Brothers Sporting Association, at SAG sports complex, Fatorda, on Thursday.
In the first quarter-final, Mandovi Boys defeated Shlok XI by 29 runs. Putting into bat first, Mandovi Cricket Club scored 129 runs losing 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Durgesh Prabhudessai scored unbeaten 40 runs. For Shlok XI, Jayant Ambekar was the wrecker-in-chief scalping three wickets giving away 28 runs while Krishna Volvoikar and Abhjeet Talekar shared two wickets each.
In reply, Shlok XI were skittled out at 98 runs in 18.1 overs. Krishna Volvoikar top scored with 44 runs. For Mandovi Cricket Club Sachin Naik and Prashant Haldankar shared three wickets each.
In the second quarter-final, Ghumteshwar Warriors easily outwitted Sarvodaya Sporting by 47 runs. Batting first, Ghumteshwar Warriors were bundled out at 120 runs in 19.2 overs. Deepraj Gaonkar cracked 37 runs and was well supported by Vikas Dessai, who contributed 20 useful runs. Arun Wagi claimed 4/ 21 while Darshan Mishal and Raje Jagdale shared two wickets each.
Chasing the target, Sarvodya Sporting were all out at 73 runs in 13.5 overs. Only Rohan Dessai scored respectable undefeated 26 runs. For Ghumtesh Warriors, Dasharth Dhotre was the most successful bowler claiming 4/19.
