Addressing a press conference organized by GPYC Mandrem Block at Mandrem on Sunday, block president Sachin Parab alleged that “CM is talking about developmental projects like Mopa Airport and Electronic City but the land for the same has been acquired by not following proper procedures.” The chief minister had stated that Mopa and Electronic City projects will create job opportunities for locals,” Parab said and questioned as to who will get jobs in these proposed projects, as of today, the highly educated youth are either going abroad or moving out of State for better job opportunities. He further stated only the less literate ones will be given jobs in these proposed projects and that too “menial” ones.
He further informed that the GPYC Mandrem block will set up its own institute to provide training to these youth and if that is not possible then it will get them trained at other institutes.
When Parsekar was in the Opposition he had voiced his opposition to the Aronda Jetty and now when coming to power he has completely done a U-turn by supporting it, Parab claimed.
Another GPYC Mandrem block member Sandesh Sawant said, “BJP Government had come up with a Kapila Dairy project at Ashwem for which land was acquired from the locals at Rs 65 per sq mt. The project later turned out to be a total failure. The same land is now being sold for thousands of rupees per sqmt and the government has failed to pay the land owners for the same.”
He claimed that the BJP Government went ahead with the road construction work by having the electric poles in the middle of the road thereby risking people’s lives.
He further informed that Pernem beach lacks changing rooms and toilets. There is no pay parking anywhere in Pernem. The football ground at Morjim, which was built during the Congress regime is currently in a bad state.
“We have decided to submit a memorandum to the tourism minister to provide toilets and changing rooms on all the beaches in Pernem and if this is not taken up on priority, then the Mandrem GPYC will allot mobile toilets and changing rooms on all the beaches in Pernem, Sachin Parab added.
Other issues such as shed for Chopdem fish market, roadside footpath and a local ground for Parsem village were also discussed.
Mahesh Kambli, Mukesh Gadekar and other members were present.
