BASTORA: Over a kilometer long stretch of mangroves were reduced to ash on the Bastora side of the National Highway 17 till Thursday.
The fire that started on Wednesday continued burning and clouds of smoke were notice till Thursday afternoon.
Mapusa Fire station personnel visited the spot three times on Thursday to take stock of the situation. They attempted to put off the fire, but since it was beyond the reach of the fire tender and firefighters, it could not be extinguished.
